This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all.

Did you know? LGBTQ+ individuals affected by cancer often face unique challenges, including higher rates of financial hardship, social isolation, barriers to healthcare, and disparities in cancer screening and survivorship care. Research has shown that many LGBTQ+ patients report concerns about discrimination, access to affirming care, and feeling understood throughout their cancer journey.

At Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley, we believe everyone deserves compassionate support, meaningful connection, and access to resources that honor their whole identity.

Whether you are a patient, survivor, caregiver, family member, or friend, you belong here.

❤️ You are seen.
🧡 You are valued.
💛 You are welcome.
💚 You are supported.

Because community is stronger than cancer.

Celebrating Our Trainees 💙 This week, CSC staff g Celebrating Our Trainees 💙

This week, CSC staff gathered for a heartfelt farewell lunch to celebrate an incredible group of master’s level marriage and family therapy trainees.

Over their time with us, James DiLapo (Azusa Pacific University), Alissa Antilla (USC), and Grace Lim (USC) made a meaningful impact through orientations, support groups, and individual counseling.

Often the very first point of contact for new participants, they helped ensure everyone felt welcomed, supported, and connected to our community. Their compassion, fresh ideas, and dedication made a lasting difference to both the individuals they served and our organization as a whole.

While we’re sad to see them go, we are so proud of all they’ve accomplished and excited to see them begin their careers as Marriage and Family Therapists. Thank you, James, Alissa, and Grace — we can’t wait to see all that’s ahead for you! ✨

Today we celebrate a milestone — 11 years of leade Today we celebrate a milestone — 11 years of leadership, compassion, and impact by Patricia Ostiller, JD, CFRE, CEO of Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley. 💛

Over the past 11 years, Patricia has remained deeply committed to CSC’s mission to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Through her vision, integrity, and unwavering determination, she has helped transform CSCGSGV into one of the region’s most trusted and impactful nonprofit organizations.

Under her leadership, CSC successfully navigated the COVID-19 pandemic, launched the Benefactors Society, raised $3.8 million through the “Be the Key” capital campaign to secure a permanent Sierra Madre community center, expanded programs and staffing, and led a rebranding and marketing effort that broadened the organization’s reach and visibility.

Her transparent leadership, tireless work ethic, and politely persistent determination have strengthened vital community partnerships and expanded support to under-resourced communities throughout the Greater San Gabriel Valley.

Most importantly, Patricia’s leadership has brought hope, connection, and healing to countless individuals and families impacted by cancer.

Thank you, Patricia, for the difference you make every day – and congratulations on 11 years! ✨
